We are all storytellers.
We all live in a network of stories.
There isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.

Seeds of Hope Stories

Stories can shape people; they can inspire them to think and act differently.
Over the coming months, we will release some stories of our own.
We would like to introduce you to our Vanderful Volunteers, who are the Seeds of Hope ODV team.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

Stefano Gigli (Stefi)

In which year did you join Seeds of Hope & what’s your country of origin?
So, I officially joined Seeds of Hope / Vanderful in 2022, but I did take part in Vanderful Rome as a volunteer in 2021 and my country of origin is Italy!
What is your role at Seeds of Hope ODV?
My role officially would be a board member, but I see myself more as a “project manager”, for example, in Vanderful Rome, I was taking lots of photos and taking care of the digital media side.
What do you like most about your role?
I guess what I like most about my role is the fact that it is really versatile, I can help by doing different things.
What inspired you to volunteer?
My two brothers and Vikki inspired me to volunteer! Since I was in middle school, I was always following them around and when they went to Africa and started doing the beautiful projects, it made me want to be part of them !

What is your greatest strength? How does it help you at Seeds of Hope?

My greatest strength would be that I am adaptable in all kinds of situations. It helps me by being a handyman with people.

What are some of your best memories at Seeds of Hope?

The best memories I had with Seeds of Hope were in Rome, we had a lot of fun shaping surfboards with the kids and also teaching them how to surf. It was very pleasant taking them out to surf because you could see all the amount of passion and will that they were putting into it.

How do you stay motivated on the not-so-sunny days?

I try to stay motivated by saying to myself “why would you waste time by being sad and not really accomplish anything when you can get up and get things done?” So I get a planner and make myself really busy, to the point that I can’t finish what I planned and then at the end of the day I may have not finished everything but I had no spare time to be sad.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a volunteer?

My advice to someone who wants to be a volunteer would be to smile, if you smile everything is easier…people like you because you bring happiness around!

Icebreaker Questions

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you choose to be?

I think I would like to be a monkey because I will spend my days climbing trees, and being on top of them, which I really enjoy doing in reality.

Would you rather live in the ocean or on the moon?

The ocean!

What is your best idea for a new invention?

I think I would create a system for electric car charging stations, so easy to use that my parents wouldn’t need me to do it for them every time, probably a contactless receiver that instantly unlocks the charging stations without any kind of apps!

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night time person? Why?
I think I am a twilight person, I guess just because I love to be outside during sunsets especially in the summer!
